On Constraint Preservation in Numerical Simulations of Yang-Mills Equations

چکیده
The problem of constraint preservation for discretizations of nonlinear PDEs is addressed in the example of the hyperbolic Yang–Mills equations in temporal gauge. These equations preserve a nonlinear divergence field analogous to the electric charge for Maxwell’s equations. We introduce and discuss several discretizations of these equations on finite element spaces of Lie algebra valued differential forms. Numerical experiments indicate that simply restricting the variational formulation to the Galerkin spaces yields substantial drift in the charge, contrary to the linear Maxwell case. We then propose a fully discrete method constrained with Lagrange multipliers, for which we prove discrete charge conservation and observe excellent energy conservation.

Constraint and Super Yang - Mills Equations on the Deformed Superspace IR ( 4 | 16 ) h̄
It has been known for quite some time that the N = 4 super Yang-Mills equations defined on four-dimensional Euclidean space are equivalent to certain constraint equations on the Euclidean superspace IR (4|16). In this paper we consider the constraint equations on a deformed superspace IR (4|16) ¯ h ` a la Seiberg and derive the deformed super Yang-Mills equations. In showing this, we propose a ...
متن کاملSolving a set of truncated Dyson-Schwinger equations with a globally converging method
A globally converging numerical method to solve coupled sets of non-linear integral equations is presented. Such systems occur e.g. in the study of Dyson-Schwinger equations of Yang-Mills theory and QCD. The method is based on the knowledge of the qualitative properties of the solution functions in the far infrared and ultraviolet. Using this input, the full solutions are constructed using a gl...

Structure Preserving Algorithms for Differential Equations are discrete computational methods coined at exactly preserving important geometric or analytic properties of the continuous physical system. Over the last decade the importance of exact structure preservation has been understood in a variety of application areas. There are a number of computational problems where such algorithms are es...
متن کاملEinstein-Yang-Mills-Maxwell-Inflaton System: I. Initial Value Problem
The general hamiltonian formalism for time-dependent EinsteinYang-Mills equations is presented and then applied to the well studied case of spherically symmetric su(2)−valued Yang-Mills fields. Here, we focus on by far less known time dependent solutions of these equations, and especially on perturbations of Friedmann-Lemaitre homogeneous solutions. By analysing the hamiltonian constraints, we ...
متن کاملLagrangian and Covariant Field Equations for Supersymmetric Yang - Mills Theory in 12
We present a lagrangian formulation for recently-proposed supersym-metric Yang-Mills theory in twelve dimensions. The field content of our multiplet has an additional auxiliary vector field in the adjoint representation. The usual Yang-Mills field strength is modified by a Chern-Simons form containing this auxiliary vector field. This formulation needs no constraint imposed on the component fie...
